The informed consent leaflet ’PlOp 19’ provides information on free transplantation of tissue flaps. If tissue damage occurs as a result of an accident (e.g. injuries, burns) or a disease (e.g. tumours) which cannot be closed using direct suturing or a simple transplantation, a tissue transplant with vascular and nerve connection from a more distant body region is required. This is known as a flap technique and/or free flap.
