A corrective operation, as described in the leaflet “PlOp 5”, is recommended in certain cases. It should be performed for scars that are shrinking and under tension, resulting in impairment of mobility or growth, if there is increased vulnerability with rupturing of the scar or also if there is a risk of the scar tissue turning malignant or if it is a very old, unstable scar.
